Netherhall members victorious at local shoot

Sunday saw the annual Jolly Archers Open York/Hereford/Bristol shoot. This year, Jolly's were kind enough to also offer a series of National rounds which provided the ideal opportunity to introduce a few of our new members to the joy's of competition.

Full of anticipation, club coaches Mary and Philip took Tytn and Sarah along to shoot National and Short National rounds with them.

The team at Jolly Archers were, as always, perfect hosts with a great field party and tournament organiser in John Gorman (thanks John!). It was just a shame that the weather couldn't be sorted to order. With about twenty minutes to go to the sighters, the rain started to come down and as the afternoon's shooting progressed it just got heavier and the wind started to blow.

With only half of the 6-doz. arrows shot, the judging team quite rightly brought the shoot to a halt and it was  decided on safety grounds to abandon the remainder of the competition.

That didn't stop medals being awarded and we were delighted when the following was announced.

National Round: Ladies senior recurve:

  • 1st place, Mary Watson
  • 2nd place, Sarah Austin

National Round: Gents senior recurve:

  • 1st place, Philip Watson

Short National Round: Gents senior recurve:

  • 1st place, Tytn Hays

Congratulations!
